Mirror Lake

I'm a little late posting about out little impromptu trip to Mirror Lake.

Since Josh and I started dating he'd always talk about Mirror Lake! Every summer he'd want to go but every summer we never made it up. About a month ago we both had the same two days off (which NEVER happens) and he decided we were going! So we packed up our stuff and left!

We spent 4 hours fishing and didn't catch anything!!

Our cute little campsite.

Since we were only staying for one night, we slept in my car.

Fishing day 2, I caught my very first fish EVER! (yes, that is MY fish that I caught. I was just too grossed out to touch it)

 This is Josh's catch.

It was a fun short little trip. Much needed get-a-way from life.

Fourth Of July

The 4th of July is probably one of my favorite holidays. It feels like the kick off to summer! I love seeing flags waving everywhere, patriotic songs getting stuck in my head and everywhere I look seeing red, white and blue! The whole day feels like one big celebration! BBQs, swimming, food, parades, family, friends and of course FIREWORKS!

A few months ago Josh and I requested to have the 4th off of work, with the intention of making plans to do something super fun!! Well... being the procrastinators that we sometimes are, we didn't make plans.

I  knew I wanted to go to the balloon launch in Provo and the Freedom Festival parade. But during the day and evening, no plans.

Josh's parents ward does this big neighborhood thing they call the "Cul-De-Sac of FIRE". Everyone in the ward comes with food and fireworks. Even though I feel like I hardly know anyone. It's fun to just sit and watch the kids playing with pop-its and sparker, watching everyone set off their fireworks and later when it got darker, watching the BIG fireworks. Which were pretty dang impressive! (I didn't bring my camera and my phone was about dead so I didn't take too many pics)  So we did that Wednesday night and had a good ol' time!

Pop-its everywhere!

Thursday we work up early to crazy wind! So we skipped the balloons :( and met up with our friends Cole, Kellen and Lizzie at the parade.

After the parade we walked a million miles back to our car, went home and took a little power nap before meeting back up with the Collards for lunch. After lunch Josh and I went and saw World War Z. Pretty good movie if you ask me. Josh wasn't too impressed.

Later in the evening we went back down to provo to check out more of the freedom festival. Not that impressed, but it was fun people watching. And I got a funnel cake so I was satisfied!

It was a good day! It was nice to have a day off with my wonderful husband!

Bridal Shower Fun

So incase you were wondering... Neither Josh or myself got the graphic design job. :( Sad day. We were disappointed but ok with it. This just means we get to keep trying and keep applying. So if you hear or know of anyone needing a graphic designer hit us up!!

In other news I've been busy planning a bridal shower for my sister-in-law Jasmine! Its been crazy hectic with deciding on food, decor, etc...

But over all it turned out pretty cute if you ask me!

This was a cute game (that would have been even cuter if more people showed up). I had each girl write down a memory, or favorite moment with Jasmine. Then I read them aloud and had Jasmine guess who wrote it. It made for fun conversation starters and listening to Jasmine and her friends reminiscing on "old times".

I'm satisfied with the way it all turned out but glad its over. Next big event on the way would obviously be Jasmine's endowment session, sealing and reception!! More wedding fun!! I'm super excited for Jasmine and Danny!! Don't they make the cutest couple!!?

We're Getting Married!

Its OFFICIAL!!

We're engaged! I've got a fiance! Plans are being made and we're gonna get married!

Now if you didn't know, Josh and I have been together 2 whole years! yeah, I know, thats FOREVERRRR in Utah time. We should already have at least two kids right? I'm kidding, I'm kidding. None of that matters.

Now I think I've told bits of our engagement story probably about 10 times today. But I'm gonna go a little bit more into detail here, but first I'm gonna give you a little Josh and Jessica history :)

We met at Provo College a little over two years ago. Both of us were in the Graphic and Web Design program, and both of us were too shy to talk to each other. Until we mad a mutual friend, Brian! I honestly don't remember the first time we actually spoke to each other, all I remember is standing in the hall waiting for class to start and a few of us were playing games on our iPod touches and comparing games haha! Then a few days later he added me on facebook and texted me to see if I wanted to play volley ball. Unfortunately I had to decline because I had previously biffed it on a longboard and my palms were completely destroyed! :( Then a week or so later he invited me to hang out with him on Memorial day, again I had to decline cause I already had plans with Brian, my cousin and a few other friends. BUT I invited him to come along with us and he accepted!! :D

The first time we ever hung out (in Park City) the boys did not match on purpose!

Since then we've hung out almost everyday and I have loved every minuet of it!

And now, two years later we're taking the next step in this relationship!

So yesterday, Josh and I had been looking for apartments all morning with no luck. So we decided to do something, go somewhere to keep us from getting stressed and what not. We got some food, made a few sandwiches and drove up the canyon to South Fork, to a little park called Big Springs Park. Where we've shared many fun times together....

Sep 2010. My very first time there with him and his family.

Jan 2011 Snow shoeing at Big Springs.

Feb 2011. More snow shoeing!

June 2011. Exploring some beaver dams up South Fork.

We got up to the park and ate our little dinner while it POURED rain. After the rain stopped and we were finished eating we walked up the familiar trails and went for a nice little walk. Crossed a little stream...

and did some more walking until we got to a little bridge where we took this picture two years ago...

Sep 2010

We stood there and reminisced a little bit about all the times we'd been there then hugged. And we hugged for what seemed like forever! It was so nice to be in such a beautiful place wrapped in the man that I love's arms. As we stood there I could start to feel his heart beating so hard! I knew what was coming :). He pulled away, still holding me and told me how much he loved me. How he had been having a hard time trying to think of a special way to propose to me and realized that it didn't matter how he did it. He said he wanted to do it somewhere that was special to us. Somewhere he liked to spend time with me. He told me he was proud of us and that he knew it was the right time. He took my hands, got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him! Of course, crying,  I said yes!

same spot as picture above. two years later :)

SO happy!!

I'm so incredibly lucky to have Josh in my life! I've never felt so much love for someone as I do for him. I feel so blessed everyday I'm with him. He makes me laugh, smile and I love how much we've grown to know and love each other. I'm so proud of the things we've accomplished together to get us to this exciting point in our life. And I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with him by my side!

So mark your calenders! Mount Timpanogos Temple. October 4th!

FUN.

I realized I forgot to mention how awesomely amazing the Fun show was a few weekends ago. Racheal and I went up to Salt Lake to see them (Josh was gonna go with me but it happened to be the same weekend of General Conference).

Don't know who Fun is? Shame, Shame... They are pretty much the best band ever! We Are Young is their newest song, I'm pretty sure its on the radio these days.  I personally  like their first album Aim and Ignite better, but the new one is very good as well! Nate Ruess is simply brilliant! He puts on such an entertaining show! SO much fun to watch, I just love his voice and face so much! Don't judge me, I know he isn't the hottest guy around but something about him...mmm :D. If you don't know who The Format is either LOOK THEM UP!!! Nate was the lead singer for them. So great!

Here, enjoy some videos and pictures from the show!
